Desert sun, august morning,
Sky, a butterscotch orange.

Amongst all things, concerns:
For paintings are ownership...
Hopefully drawings disappear,
Wrap your body in animal skin.

Put a brush to your wrist,
Go ahead, spill,
Color all over...
Hopefully canvas appears.

Yellow, what say of the sea?
Hardcore, double crossing, frog,
Croaking of dark forces and fear.
An unarmed soldier, war over,
Still fighting with the hayseeds.

Oh,
Is this why blue pervades me?

All things amongst me here,
Sidewalks get ownership,
You pay, then worship on them.
All language, being borrowed,
Gives power to some lawyer.

Oh,
Is this why blue pervades me?
Yellow, what have you made me?

An explosion, two million boats,
Less than a third vote.
'oh, the problem, is they lack common goals"
The rest boast, but it was about the same before.
The belly distends, the body groans,
Inside you would hope the innards grow,
But they don't.
Their parents croak, clear the bones,
Inside you would hope for inner growth,
But instead they find more civil wars,
Complain of the guy next door,
To the grocery store, government and local media,
Instead of getting to know.

the first time i heard
the word
was in the third grade
as teacher taught us, piously, of the price He paid

as He felt the spike rip though
tearing his palms asunder, in two
He pleaded, Father, why me?
why must the sacrifice i be?

the first time i understood
the word
was in the sixth grade
as i started the decline into womanhood

as I lay, fetal, on the bathroom floor
and the blood soaked my legs and the pain a dull roar
I prayed, a desperate plea, Mother, why me?
why must a woman I be?

Lady Luck please don't let me down,
I got three more months till I leave this desert town
Here I sit up on my post keepin the wolves at bay
They may think their top dog here, but now they are my prey.
Lady Luck please don't let me down,
You've got me this far, two months till I leave this ol shantytown
Here I walk on the prowl for snakes down before me.
With each step I take I clear the ground behind me.
Lady Luck please don't let me down,
Just one more month til I see my ol home town.
Here now I fly high so I can look for danger up ahead.
My badge of courage now soaked red,
Lady Luck why'd you let me down,
Now I lay six feet underground.

They met like the first time rainbow met sun shower, wave met sandy seashore, and heart met Cupid’s arrow. They laughed like the first time green eyes gazed brown, sunup chased sundown, and chuckles met deep frown. They learned about foreign subjects on local soil, shared time in familiar toil, and explored how their lives could coil. They wondered how we two could meet and find their feet and live to eat and rinse repeat and begin again and keep the peace for family sake.

She touched my heart with smile on face depositing hope of our loves deep embrace. Unlocking a gate of emotions oppressed from that bygone time cloaked in cynicism and hate. She used her power applied her grace revealing a world where nothing waits and the weak grow strong those loved and displaced. Then together we pledged to always be true to all that matters to me and to you and to guard this ethereal space.

Pour courvoisier, coke, smoke weed.
For core voices toking loke green:
Cork d’or choice, spoke woke meaning,
Joke broke gleaming,
Boast goat dreaming,
Invoke oak healing,
Poke coded readings, or cook mud.
Saying I wouldn’t eat if off the bud,
Gimme a fucking break, dawg you would.
So form apostrophes, hoax followers,
Dominate dossiers bespoke by leads.
Chorus needy, broadway job, police:
Honest lobbyist leaps, not,
Calling policy preacher law,
Homely Claudius fears god,
Homer justice, and beating his chest raw.
Former lover, for I see you as bourgeois,
Fleecing people of their heart and minds,
Champion blind, one eye is all but lost,
Camping, body weak of fighting for causes,
In causeways, his cautious mind pines,
Cheesing through life, eating off rind,
Leave, dodge, dive,
Breed, scoff, lie,
Edict goes like:
What is life? Four courses, hope, feeling?
Of course there’s more, but more redeeming?
He simply says: I’ve not found thy.

Yawn,
A boring thought,
Moving on.

Blah,
The time we've fought,
Force mignon,
For nei' were strong.

Plod,
Reason/not,
Such are battles,
Which we ought,
Discard to dogs,
Trained to chew them.

Humdrum,
Through coral caught,
Stone filled satchels,
Path danger fraught,
Mind's a fog,
Not mad at you though,
I'm only mad duly.

Doldrums,
I wish it would stop,
I'm mad at myself,
For letting this rot,
I'm not just licking frogs,
My croak at the moon shows,
I only care truly,
If you care about you.

Pedestrian,
Living life at the top,
Panopticon cell,
And fuck is it hot,
But we sit writing songs,
I croak at the moon slow,
We make a pair fool-ly,
Sympathetic,
Two lives out of tune,
At different ends of the spectrum,
Beauty ensuing.

Apostates to our parents' dreams,
Too old for pride,
But maybe peace.
We'll love in long strides,
A boring thought,
Despite defeat,
We still move on,
Lows bolstering highs,
Finding new regimes.

Those with arsenic bedfellows, exposed.
Due to the TV show they gained exposure.
Closure to a chapter of chaos and rapture.
Posturing to a new hope, classically,
In hope that he masters poseur culture²;
How dramatically he captures folk,
Beards sip wine in¹ balcony of their brother.
It's the framework of laughter;
Silently I laugh as they excuse them both³,
Rendering their will less valid, excusing oath;
Adopting a framework of passtimes,
Instead of finding, lying among those guilty,
Chastising the filthy for soiled torn clothing.
Discarding carelessly the heart of an oak,
Instead of seeding they favour blind hope;
Sans man, would the trees still grow?
Forlorn will animals flourish?
The hands of man conceive the future, though,
Often he lacks the means to nourish.
The man will scream of price of grain, though,
Often he just lacks the means for omnipotence.

You have to swear
Swear to love loving me,
This trailer will last forever,
We must have a story-book ending.
With a happy end game.
I swear to never go away.
I swear to never put aside,
The things I'm gonna say.
To the stagehand,
I will never confide.

Use your eyes only to look at me.
Use your piss-soaked, whore mouth,
Only to kiss my whore lips.
We are branches of the 21st century.
You can laugh only if you laugh at me.
You can cry only if you cry for me.
Forget what you're condemned to be.
Can't you see?
You filthy cur,
You always were,
You always will be.

You used to Willoughby so nice
I should see a doctor,
Who could keep trains from hitting me.
But A jealous woman would suffice,
She makes it easy to see coffers.
She knows I'll defrost to keep pace.
Opinion will change, but at steep cost.
It also may take a while,
So smile for the time being.
I'm feeling poor in the stomach,
My head is spinning and I feel like a fool.
I think it's about time I change the rules.

A hundred and ten, live.
Sundries of men, dead.
Sun dried in a tent,
Limbs sundered and spent.
A disunion to the dissection.
A preparation for misunderstanding.
A sun song sung,
So sundrily that the people run,
From open pasture to the sunken,
Then a tsunami wave blocks the son.
From the pasture the bell is wrung.
Sons of god in hell, soaked asunder.

My God that dumb-wrecked bitch;
The meaning of a hoe;
She tries perforce for her forget;
Her thrice exclaiming "no".

Her lips are chapped and rapid;
Face smooth and mar'ble;
Her mind a vapid wasteland;
Of her words unknow'ble.

Her bod' a sun-soaked beach;
By fear of under toe;
She tries perforce for my forget;
But hers I can not, no.

And thus some minutes pass,
And thus some minutes pass thereafter,
Pissing in my pants,
Dying forth in crippling laughter.

Hoeryong Concentration Camp,
Saul-ri, North Hamgyong, North Korea.
Google Maps can see it;
The place where he was raised.

Hooks through shoulders dance;
Three generations relieve it;
Crimes against human spirit;
Humanity crazed,
Choose to not believe it.

See Kitty Genovese,
In a nation void of peace,
Cries out for help.

Markets open and diseased;
Meth soaked in teas.
Get high;
Accept defeat.

The Illustrated Man

 Some called him, 'freak',
 For openly inviting public critique,
 Of his fabulously illustrated physique.
 But he is not so unique.
 Merely a strutting peacock,
 Soaking up the summer sun
 On some far distant shore.
 Nothing more.

From ‘Blowin’ the Blues'

#When a woman gets the blues, she hangs her head and cries, when a man gets the blues, he boards a train and rides ... # (traditional blues song, author unknown)

Down in the Deep South, it can take three days to even SEE a train going through a station. Let alone have one stop there.

I guess his story started on that fateful night back in sixty-three. Someone had just killed Kennedy. John F, that is. He was shot while driving in a motor cavalcade down in Dallas. It sparked off a whole lot of conspiracy theories for decades to come. Even after the death of J.Edgar. Maybe he took the truth to the grave with him! Who knows?
I never really knew him then; I was but a little picca ninny on my momma’s knee, down on the plantation. Barely finished suckling on her teaties. Papa said he was ‘nothing but a no-good nigre,’ and wouldn’t mount to a pile of beans. Just goes to show how wrong some people can be.

Sometimes Life can deal people a low card.
With him it had thrown away the rest of the pack and was only using a deck of deuces and threes with an occasional four. And it wasn't shuffling them, too well or too often.

He was what the white folk call 'coloured' not 'Black'. A mulatto and an albino one to boot. It was probably down to the unfortunate circumstances of his conception. His mother was 'Red' from Rhode Island. An 'easy lay' or so they say. But that was no good reason for her being gang-raped on the streets of Harlem now, was it?
His startling appearance often provoked a strange reaction in most people. Raised eyebrows, spinal shudder and shoulder shrug of revulsion, or a sharp intake of breath on initial sighting were common.

Standing a shade under seven feet, even with the stooping shoulders and strange way of holding his head slightly forward and lent to the left. Developed from years of attempting to listen with his good ear to what lesser sized folk were trying to tell him. His two hundred and sixty pound plus of bone and sinew barely covered by his leathery weather-wizened skin that had been exposed to the extremes of the elements for far too long.
Long days of toiling at whatever work he could get. Bitterly cold nights spent in any shelter he could find. There wasn't any fat on that frame. Thirty-seven years of constant shortage of food had seen to that.
Cody Jarrel, cut a vision once seen, that few would forget easily. If ever....

Cody sat slowly drinking the dregs from the bottom of the empty bottles left by paying patrons of the bar.
He shuddered so violently, it wracked his frame to it's very core.
Sheltering on the back-stoop of the Shanty Shack, from the rain that had been incessant in its task of soaking him while he tried to seek some sleep to rest his weary body throughout last night.
It had succeeded, so he let out another shiver that clinked his spine.
Down in the doldrums, yet again, the future was looking real bad for him. And little did he realise it then, but it was going to get even worse before it could get better. Much worse.

Clearing Levees and Cleaning out Culverts
From ‘Working the Wilderness’

They moved in a monster of a machine the other day. It was mounted on a very large low-loader, pulled by one real fancy rig. With a bucket jaw, mechanical mandibles, and telescopic legs powered by hydraulics, it looked just like a giant locust. In leaving the landscape raped and ravaged by its passing, it might just as well have been. What with the wet winter and the really cold spring, Mother Nature got off to a bit of a slow start with her growing plans this year. But it must be said we’ve had some exceptional sun these last couple of months and she’s caught up magnificently. Folks around these parts were looking forward to an abundant harvest of wild fruits. Blackberries, elderberries, apples, even a few pears from the only tree hereabouts. Even the oaken bushes were full of acorns at this time; the pigs would have a real feasting this Fall. But it is all history now. The man from the Ministry decides last winter’s floods were too much and now the levee needs widening down by the bridge and several of the culverts could do with some serious cleaning. So they sent in that mammoth on Monday. To get the trailer and its wide load down to the bridge, the rig took the most direct route it could, tearing up the surrounding vegetation as it lumbered along in its task. Gone are the banks of brambles full of blackberries where they cut out the culverts, so too are the briars with their precious bounty of rosehips. The birds will sorely miss them this winter if it turns as cold as they say. There was a fine crop of elderberries on those several trees down by the bridge. I was looking forward to maybe celebrating some special event with the produce formed from the fruits. Looks like I can only dream now of what might have been. They were uprooted easily by that mechanical monstrosity in its relentless quest to widen the levee. As me and the Maverick went walking this morning, I couldn’t but help notice how desolate it all looks at the moment. The grassland all torn up, rotting down with the effects of the last few days’ dry weather, now soaked by last night’s storm. Rivulets of water running down ink-black soil banks, exposed by the monster’s jaw work. The rutting of the pathways caused by the sheer weight of trailer and the rig’s tyre tracks also being filled by the fallen rain. A real shame I reckon. But Nature being what she is, she’ll survive the ravages and in time return the status quo, just differently
