May I judge? The chaos comes,
Under veil of doves, not weight problems.

May I judge? Love is based on trust,
Something you know nothing of,
Like plain hard work and using gloves.

Broken promises, safe guarded,
Imitation artist with an imitation father,
Imitated marble walls to floor,
How are those games you play at home?

May I judge? The chaos comes,
Not in the break ups, it's there all along.

Eighty dollars for a game cartridge.
May I judge? Are the games you play fun?
What about friendship, was it there all along?
Under a veil of doves, a veil of darkness,
Changing promises, a raging monster.

A chore upon a list of meetings,
My feelings mean nothing more...
Relationship falls into rondo form,
What does she have the condo for?

A floor exists beneath a ceiling,
My needs mean nothing though.
Relationships, and outercourse,
A chore upon her list at home,

In the sky on the fifteenth floor,
A eye, declines to answer the door,
She says, goodbye, cries to a score,
Why would I?

By the by, she never loved me.
By the by, why should I?
By the by, by the by.

By the by, she never loved me.
By the by, why should I?
By the by, by the by.

Rose gold chrome horns,
Like cardboard clothes,
Cold, associates sorrow,
Unworn, uneven tomorrow.
So bow your head forward,
Lift yourself up, divide me whole.

I stand naked before you,
Like I play with hands both,
Like I tap, dance, as a show,
I do for all you know, I suppose.

Upon her form, both hands,
Avacado toast, buttery bread,
Guitar solo overtop the prose,
Alcohol in her mouth, floor,
Softcore porn, popcorn snow,
Relationships in rondo form.

I just wish I knew something more.

Despite the evocation,
Reduction, reprisal,
Draw a circle,
Around my face, eyes, nose.
Triangle, circles, about my square,
Protection from inside my head.

I've seen males drag knuckles,
on their floor, faith and culture.
Their minds warped, images of war,
For what did they fight?
Rights, to remove the guy ropes,
Scrape pavement with claws at night.

Tools of change,
Use of space,
Use of names,
True and sage.

Despite the evocation,
Things change.

Swordsman, go home!
Forests shall be no more,
Our taste for war is gone,
Favoured trees have grown.
Nobles shall be no more,
No new kings be proclaimed,
Of all her princes, gone,
Her world led astray.

Open doors, open forms,
Cold, Enourmous castles,
Forts, or formal courtyards.
Informal castes, people,
Making walls, floors, or ceilings.
It matters where you stand, to the boards.

Suppose also, toward unknown,
Battlefields always need a war,
Despite reform, broken bones,
Foreign loans, foreign ownership,
Moral codes or mortal blows.
For it heeds no appeal,
Not even for their souls.

Dinner for four, e un quarto
However, foremost, they see trolls.
A photo's floorboards, reasons for war.
Yet they sit aside and hope for resolve,
Fear in their heart they hope to ignore.

Meaningless draught, meandering feeling,
Bar talk, believe not the sweet whispering,
Thinking things talked in the deep darkness,
They aught, talk turns to action,
They are what they are.

Sinking stone, mephitic toad of the ocean floor,
What does the heart wish for? Winning wars?
Logistic growth? Cathartic revolt? Ownership?
Satan, do you hear your kindred souls?

Card or cash, is all they know.
They see fawns freeze in the snow,
and move on, it's things seen from a car.
It's part of a laundry list of misgivings,
They want what they want,
They are what they are.

the first time i heard
the word
was in the third grade
as teacher taught us, piously, of the price He paid

as He felt the spike rip though
tearing his palms asunder, in two
He pleaded, Father, why me?
why must the sacrifice i be?

the first time i understood
the word
was in the sixth grade
as i started the decline into womanhood

as I lay, fetal, on the bathroom floor
and the blood soaked my legs and the pain a dull roar
I prayed, a desperate plea, Mother, why me?
why must a woman I be?

my god i’m so lonely
so i set my small salt lamp
on the edge of the window
on the tiny wooden ledge

i turn the dial clockwise
and the light burns in my
eyes
sending a message to the dog across the street

the only one who might be able to understand my mess of signals, signs indistinguishable from the clothes heaped on my floor

nobody, nobody nobody nobody
nobody, oh, nobody nobody

somebody, anybody, nobody, again.

i’m so tired.

might just.

wrap up in a blanket

and go to sleep.

Warning: this is looooooong and if you’re a sensitive individual the first parts may bother you. But hopefully the last part will inspire you. Speak your truths friends. The ones who matter will love you all the harder. #worldmentalhealthday

Hidden Stories

They smiled, jokingly told her
she looked tired,
“Must’ve partied hard last night.”
Smile quietly returned,
“just didn’t sleep too well I guess.”
She didn’t tell them how hard it was to get out of bed this morning,
How sleep never came last night,
How it felt like the darkness would just swallow her whole,
How she felt hollow and empty
and there weren’t any tears left,
just an ache deep within
that wouldn’t subside.
And maybe if she just squeezed her eyes shut and stayed in that bed
in the blacked out void,
She wouldn’t have to face another day of faked smiles and “I’m ok” lies.
“Just tired today I guess.”

“It’s warm today man!”
“What’s with the long sleeves all the time?”
“Got some crazy tattoos under there?”
He smiled, laughed along with them,
Self-consciously ran his hands
over his wrists.
Over the bandages binding his secrets.
They didn’t know how close he got last night, how he almost let go,
How so much blood, HIS blood
swirled down the drain,
mixing with his tears.
He was sure no one would miss him, but he wondered if he would miss this world,
And the good days out in the sun,
Few and far between as they were.
What would they say if he were gone tomorrow?

“You should’ve come out with us last night. You would’ve had so much fun...”
She nodded and made those
“next time” promises,
though she knew they were lies.
She’d stay home again,
Wrapped in the icy grips of loneliness,
Which felt somehow better
than her burning cheeks
when the right words just wouldn’t come, or the wrong ones spilled out,
and she felt their eyes on her,
Panic rising, thoughts frozen
Wishing she’d just stayed home,
Away from the judgement,
And all the wrong moves she always made

“Haven’t seen you around in a while! Doing ok?”
His mouth smiled, head nodded,
lips formed words he’d said so often, automatic.
Because, really, he thought,
How could I describe
that moment last night,
body curled up with forehead cold
against the kitchen floor,
Ears covered to block out the voices,
Silent screams wracking his body as the panic overwhelmed him,
No breath to speak,
And who could he call anyway,
How would he explain these moments of pure fear that slipped in unnoticed
and become everything, took everything, until he was a shivering shell of himself.
Sometimes he wondered,
if they could see through him,
would they think him weak?
Would they walk away...?

These people are all make-believe,
but the experiences are not,
taken from articles and discussions
and sometimes even revelations from
real-life friends.
These are not my stories,
but they are someone’s truths,
Not their weakness,
Not their short-lived sadness
that they can just “get over” if you try hard enough to make them happy.
(My gosh do I need to remind myself of that part sometimes...)

But that doesn’t mean you stop trying.
Love them y’all.
Love them so damn much that you’ll sometimes break through the cracks in their self-inflicted armor.
Listen to them,
Give them the chance to be
open and honest,
And if what they say makes you flinch, imagine what it must feel like for them.
Do something kind that makes them smile and get ready to do it again tomorrow.
Smile and laugh with them. Cry with them.
Be genuine with your
thoughts and feelings.
Give them space, but check on them.
Pull them out of the dark for just a moment, say,
“I’m here for you when you need me.
And I always will be.”

Mental health issues are often invisible,
but still feel debilitating to the one
inside that head.
Stay educated.
Be understanding.
Love the hell out of each other.

Why does the torrent travel?
Where is the lively forest?
Even the poorest trees flourish,
Their coins worthless,
Poinsettia, wide oceans.

For my set list chosen,
What does forum or castles have?
Gravel walls, gravel flooring,
People with their comfort lush,
Their lives worthless,
Political science, flyers,
Quotients.

2020 points of data
Dad's a little worried 'bout it
Swimming in a pool of mana
Shrouded in chaotic mantle

Cross legged on the basement floor
Flooding with the magic sauce
New shadows like a candy store
They dance outside and wait for us

Anyway, he sits with mama
Dreaming of a mind controller
Come bridges of analysis
Enslave me in a freer wonder

Let me see the world pro rata
Let them not be worried 'bout it
Long books they wrote in spite of me
Excerpting my whole destiny

They ask for more free verse,
Ironically I ask for freedom.

Turn yourself, the sun faces west,
Learn your self looking into distance,
A poem of story, rhetoric important.
He just tells of lions and beasts,
Ire and deceit, lies succinct,
Are my poems of heart not complete,
Even if truth is too foolish to be?

Future hard to see, a pence to me,
Fences mended where darkness meet,
A dense man where the larkin leap,
Without them where would we be?
A garbage heap, a fence two feet,
A garbage pile, a fence of three,
A garbage life, spend barking of time,
Not mine but others, I covet.
My duvet stained with oil, lovely,
When was it worth more, white forlorn
Or in a pile on the floor disgusting?

Lately, I write universal,
Rody Walker disapproves:
"I see through you,
Ethereal, feigning too close,
To touch a virtue.
Oh, feeling, careening mostly,
Posts passing, tongue lashings,
More dashing, floor, gas pedal,
More dashing, more dashing,
One says, like a clause."

Platinum ring, yet,
Heart diamond, set.
What's happening, please,
Forget my misdeeds, luck,
A hat in a ring, belts,
One generation fights back,
Another fights against.

Poetry succinct, mispelled,
Written on cocktail napkins,
Waitress dismayed and going,
Thrown to a well indistinct,
Dreams worth more than coins,
More than love or poinsettias,
Less two roses that grow together.

At least,
If I throw my feelings,
Into the well they drink,
One day they will think of me.
Although,
If I know I'm leaving,
Into the well I go, no warning,
or unthinking.
Tomorrow,
If I am untoward,
Bloated upon our meeting,
Give me shelter from the storm.
Or at least a greeting.

In my city they wish for dreams,
Fish in streams, with no disease.
Innocently they live of demons,
Give no lead, monster.
Imposter husband,
Who touches a lot,
Possibly you are of honors,
Kissing no others,
Triage cupboards, heed.
For up above there is no seer,
Magical being informs our love,
Only me.

So where mist is aqua,
My spirit is awestruck,
A blessed potato, tucked.
My stomach is full,
I have work too abrupt,
Where a kiss is awkward,
Kids living squalid.

So in my city, of missed ague,
I will breakthrough,
My break through, a great due.
A comedic debut, no laughing,
A great deal of scoffing at me.

My blessed potato, to keep me warm,
To be eaten, and too returns.
As I scrape these tile floors,
Let no-one know, current location:
Somewhere forward, even from tomorrow.

He dreams of winter,
tireless, listless,
Forming fists, linger,
Five fingers for taking,
Making and mocking,
Flying at the equinox;
Checks to greet,
A future cost.

Apart from his words,
He talks opposite,
Of walks in the park,
And poor pessimism.
Perhaps one day,
Forgotten is passion,
Castles of young love,
Tall as his bastion.
He tells you of virtues,
Rarely living attache,
Stacking stones,
Flashing cards flourished,
Floor patterned,
Checkerboard,
Poorly planned,
Colored randomly.

I write without relent,
Lawn ashen, body bent,
Fawn bashful, words pawn.
I write without intent,
Politic truth, not respect.

Words choleric, forested,
Another blonde moribund;
Floral, me'er ornament,
Porcelain and floor clung;
Flies flying and food dung,
No chloroseptic rush.

Sitting alone, he claims,
Throne vacant, citrus grown,
Plain clothes, no Satan.
He makes popular statements,
Pandering blatant, but fun,
Worldview of a drunk taken.

Full of heart,
Dull as garbage, trumped,
Meandering serious,
Meaning wallet plump,
Friends gone, blunt,
Ledge found, jump.

Materialism shoddy,
Outlook potty,
In a world of rocks,
I wish for a mouth chalky,
Ground filled with chalk.
Curve my bell aptly,
Lord of the shinebox,
Grant me world gaudy,
Ending with gold trim,
Upon a golden hem,
Golden sheets, golden beds.
Golden nails,
Golden boards
Golden floors.
Wife scenic,
Life ironic,
Post Modernism.
