Despite the evocation,
Reduction, reprisal,
Draw a circle,
Around my face, eyes, nose.
Triangle, circles, about my square,
Protection from inside my head.

I've seen males drag knuckles,
on their floor, faith and culture.
Their minds warped, images of war,
For what did they fight?
Rights, to remove the guy ropes,
Scrape pavement with claws at night.

Tools of change,
Use of space,
Use of names,
True and sage.

Despite the evocation,
Things change.

Diana wrote little of cages,
Ropes below.

Ballet shoes, champagne flutes,
Game room hue suede blue,
Cocktails offstage too.

Maybe I'll leave the wave pool,
Establish new trade routes,
Maybe not, who knows?
Bottles for now though.

Broadway too,
Wet roots, wrestling boots.
Scale teeth need scraping through.

But,
The veiled truth is you wade,
Life is a swamp,
They lie,
Blue in the face,
Tell you it's not that way.

Broadway, grey hues,
Costumed plays,
Or he borrows like hooped snakes.
Babe, that ain't for you,
It's not for anyone with a brain.

Invention of wheel,
Longness of face,
Internal promise of cake.

I feel I cannot run away.

Knowledge of space,
Darkness of faith,
Invention of metal,
Weapons and trades.
External promise of capes.

Knowledge of place,
Doctrine of faith,
Darkness of brain.
Call it a day!
Harvest the slave's harvest,
Get paid!

Invention of cadmium.
Longness of days,
Internal rotten and lamed.

Pastel crayon, divine me.
Quite a lot of yellow fears...
I see.

I asked where are they?
Inside me? Behind?
Corn, cream or citrine?
Honey, they see white...

Gleaming, unsheathed knife,
Streelights, divine me.
What is fear like?
White with yellow?

I think I could but part ways,
Let the meat meet the knife,
See yellow inside their face,
Toenails and eyes.

Again, define me,
Against this chaos I fight.

Dieting, and sex, paying rent.
Isn't life grand? Just as they said.
Like a rack, stack or chip:
Being colloquial, bland, rich.
Is like a fantastic black ship,
Which sits in the harbour,
Hoping to be used, again...

Oh, and add two dots to the end,
Again, she just hopes for the best.

White like her dress, amen.
White like her skin, and intents,
Alight in her eyes, that intensity,
Dying, like her teeth and her hair...

Oh, and white like the porcelain,
She sees when she retches.
White like the faces of relatives.

Aegean, sing fool-speak to the masses.
Queen, think, but don't deceive Ophelia,
A mask would only cover your features,
Despite your sweetness, we see the madness.

So scratch at your hands, the lion dances.

Was it like this all along? A bird wonders...
Like gawkers, ponders what they saw...

'Would you describe me, inside of a bar?'
'Must again, you make things be so hard?'
'Wasp, like I bumble about the pollen,
Following a humble belief seems wanton,
When you believe in things so violent and wrong.'

Bird, quickly describes in simple songs,
Big cities, things it saw in the puddle,
Colors of war, bees that talk.
Freedom, it sings, is also simple,
One really needs not drift apart.
The big screen, another big scene,
It was mostly a facade...
Balk, talk is talk, feeling in the dark,
But most of what a bird said, lived on,
Proper relief is upon the soul after all...

So they write less of evil on the walls,
In the sky, on maps or village carts.
Against nothing, see the days beyond...
I suppose those concepts are behind us.

Was it like this all along? A bird wonders...
Is the city like a swallow, or like to swallow,
and will he be the next one gone?

Cause for alarm, make calls upon,
Anything, but you lost the one. You love...

Like a dog watching another sun set,
More talk, another sun will rise again,
Life for this bird is but more dogs.
So like a coward, survives the storm,
Shivering as they make their calls.
Inevitably, to face the power lines alone.

Sitting outside the shop on a cloudy May afternoon, my hand scrawls on the back of a receipt
a list of the aspects of myself:

- the moles in morse code down the side of my face ($4.99)
- the scars on my leg in bumpy braille ($12.76)
- the skin covering my knuckles, shining where it has split so many times over ($29.97, sale price)
- the soul filled with self-loathing, boiling, bubbling over the rim ($10.19)
- my spine, doubled over and bent backward ($17.22, CLEARANCE)
- the effort I put into eject all but the smallest parts of myself
as a collection of trinkets, an amalgamation of dust bunnies ($0.99)

I must have picked these up, absentmindedly, through my time in the shop. Where can I put these back? I didn't want them. Why did I pay for them, pulling out my wallet in a daze? I never knew they existed. I must have entered a girl and left a much older woman. How long was I standing underneath the humming lights?

I crumple up the scratch paper and toss it in the bin as the sun waves from the overcast.

If I could, I would take my grey for your gray,
My grave for your grave, but in the end I will fail.
Take my blade and slay your beasts, hero.
Even if all you see are beasts and famous people,
Not beings from which you take a piece.
In fear we never speak, like ancient egypt,
People change, things remain the same for me.

You aspire for some greater freedom,
Perhaps, from up there you can label people,
Teach them who should be sold as slaves.
Maybe you can take those taken pieces,
Build back the things you took from me.
Gain more favour and speak loquacious,
But gone are the days where you heard me speak,
Gone are the days of our walks on the beach,
Because even long ago I was but memories.

Things have changed, besides the people,
Weight and age mostly,
But when I see your face,
You want an escape, I can see it.
A smile that lies on its face,
But your heart plain as day.
Rather than three hours too soon,
One minute late

The wind whispers to my skin,
It's like it speaks with every breath.
As if it has been calling out for my presence,
Waiting to see the face behind this mask.
So far it has shown nothing but disdain,
And I wonder if I have anything left to give.

In darkness I wander,
With nothing but my memories
Falling, falling, falling.
Where once I saw light now lies only gloom,
And I know that it has gone.
For those who wish for rest, I have none
Though I'd give up what I have, for one more.
But it's too much now, I can't move my hands,
I just want to sleep...
(My memory, it fades)
In the dark, with nothing to grasp,
The memories that I hold so dear
Fall away from me like they were never there.
And I feel as though I will fall into madness,
Like the very world is crumbling beneath my feet,
That everything is crashing down,
I fear I cannot stand the weight.
(I'm fading)
I just want to sleep...
(My memory, it fades)
***
I'm afraid I've gone and made a fool out of myself again,
I knew you wouldn't understand my reason,
And now you're not talking to me at all,
You see I didn't mean to let your memory fade,
It's like I was being pulled away by another force,
Something I didn't mean, something I can't control,
I don't even know why I'm still here...
I don't know why I'm still here.
I should leave this place, I know it's wrong,
I shouldn't be here in your mind,
I can't help the way that I am,
I don't know why I'm Super Mundane,
I can't stop feeling so low,
I'm afraid it's already too late.

I didn't mean to let you slip away,
But the thought of losing you just doesn't sit right,
To keep you awake and alive,
I need you here, I'm not alone,
Without you here with me I can't go on,
I don't know why I'm Super Mundane,
I don't know why I'm still here.
I didn't mean to let you slip away,
I just can't shake this feeling,
That something inside of me is broken,
I don't know why I'm Super Mundane,
I don't know why I'm still here.

This poem is an Articial Intelligence re-interpretation of "Super Mundane" by TheSoftSophist

I can't fly, I buy a plane, afraid,
Is it I, or the world that changed?
Doing, but why? Moon in the sky,
The music has died away:
Civilized, civil eyes describe,
My cymbals, rides and chains.
Time changes, I stay behind, afraid,
I can't fly, I can't buy a plane,
Or move to a space in my mind,
Tiny place, stimuli, to hide my pain.
Like shrines to a saint, myself,
I can overprice, play faces like chess,
Trite, then replace with tech.
In my camp by the lake,
Water arrests the trees.
Wolf, that tames itself,
Realizes little of anyone else,
Sees no bigger dreams,
Eats the best, but what for me?

ceaseless, i wait here in my hall of stone.
my continuous, meditative, monotonous vigil only broken by the sound of a camera shutter or the scratch of charcoal over rough paper.
my silence never ends, since my marble knees do not know the hour when they will straighten and carry me away, nor my spine knows when to crack and unfurl my body tall, higher than the skylight under which i am displayed, nor my dainty dress knows when to settle itself more comfortably over my shoulders.
so here i remain, forever more statue than woman.

one evening, out of the blue twilight the night guard saunters in, bold and butch and self-assured
(her footfalls give her away)
without warning, she leans in close, shining her beam in my placid face, and i cannot blink away the yellow light
(and never would, just to glimpse once more upon her lovely face)
hastily she whispers in my ear, instantly transforming my marble to rose quartz
and slowly then, she kisses me, soft and earnest and fleeting
and suddenly i am more woman than statue.

Flag,
Grab a torch, same hand,
Have fun with your vote:
Another hand a sword,
It opens a can of corn.

Fake hammer throw,
Judges, like rabbits,
Run back to their holes.
Rather than face the day,
The code and its ghosts.
Instead,
They make jokes, they make shows,
They make notes, that, of course,
Exclude their track record of control.

That dirt road, saddled by war,
Addled by the hammers thrown,
Fools who took no land unknown,
Who speak a language encoded,
Take advantage of the locals.

What is wealth, cash of course?
But it's also a canvass of bone,
Grass in the mouth of a mud horse.

An open mouth gasps,
Hot sauce, parmesan,
All I see is stars.
No conscious thought,
Face agaze in awe,
A chicken with no wing,
Would it rise or fall?
As I concentrate,
Stare at a spot on the wall,
Eyes; waterfalls,
Call off the milk,
Call off the salt,
My tongue stings,
Craters, my teeth sting,
An open mouth gasps for these things,
A king sits routinely,
Being above singing and fearing.

Calamity, their hearts dictate,
Failures, insanity, Hecate.
A spell long for them:
Dreams, but at a gamblers pace,
Meaning, but then actors change,
TV panel games as passion fades,
Children, teen, then move away.
Tickets to the gamelan races,
They own the stadium.
What do they say, of man,
Their fates? They rarely change.
One could sew sequins into thy face,
Meanwhile speak of other races,
All they would see is a cage,
Call their fathers, seethe in rage.

Stallions of grazing,
High yields, truncation,
Stars in amazement,
What feels like salvation?
A path of slave labour,
Tired people, consumption,
That's how I feel.
Everyone has their favorite battlefield,
Next to their cross with their name.
The spell longest for anyone,
Man and his grave.

Vape life, they scream, into the ether inhaled.
God's favored child, prophecy in their veins,
Perfectly sculpted face, one that time changes,
Poignantly, he learns too late:
Life is always cloudy when you're vaping,
Love doesn't come find you, you chase it,
Addicts only love you when you embrace them,
Gillette will only love you if you're shaving.

Snyder, my love.
Be fire,
Be tyrants,
Be spiders or vipers,
Lions or Tigers.
Whether climate, or giants,
Highland or island.
Even cliffs to climb,
Forever, higher and higher.
Even if frightened or tired,
Jalapenos, cheese, honey, mustard,
Hot sauce, ranch.
What is pious and righteous,
I would face fury of unarmed combat,
Against gunfire, to have you again.

All the gold, silver and jade,
Costs, at which attained,
All the wars, tanks, and planes,
Casts a shadow, twice the grave.

Born a slave, no faith, he screams:
I have no face, continues aimless.

Castle, your prince awaits.

I dreamt indifferently,
Subtly smiling at each move,
Waves deferentially,
That was my heaven.

Of pictures and frames,
Eventually they go away,
Like fitness and pain,
Jazz, age, dates and faces,
Soon again, time changes.

Honey, everlasting joys.
One does destroy bees,
Sees, consumes, avoid.
Like nothing, voice fleeting,
Screaming into the void,
Lonely, an ocean destroys me.
