Ire in my heart.
Desire for port,
Designer clothes.

Firesales, shots,
Desire for more,
Righteous cause,
Inside jokes.

Cannot you stand on half the world?
Tiger mom, time forgotten,
Trials of law, wires crossed.

And here I am still lion hearted

Fire, flames upon a hoop,
I, am drawn. Eraser,
Dissolve, dissolute.

Child's play, inside a room,
Drive talk, eyes and hearts,
Upon her arm, should she draw?

Never again can she feel loss,
I, am drawn, she says, to darkness,
Never again will she see stars,
Never again will she be wrong,
Never again can she feel love.

Eraser, darker hues.
Paper rips in two,
Reddish shade of blue,
Fire, flames upon a hoop.

Cannot you write of greater things?
Or still is life consumed with frings?
What do vegetables in a garden say?
That they are selfish, wrong, gay,
That the old ways have gone away?

Carrots are obsessed with sex,
Consumed with greed, and peppers,
What does sausage on a skillet say?
It sits, writhes and screams in pain.

Life isn't an arcade machine,
You don't put coins in and get to play.

Invention of wheel,
Longness of face,
Internal promise of cake.

I feel I cannot run away.

Knowledge of space,
Darkness of faith,
Invention of metal,
Weapons and trades.
External promise of capes.

Knowledge of place,
Doctrine of faith,
Darkness of brain.
Call it a day!
Harvest the slave's harvest,
Get paid!

Invention of cadmium.
Longness of days,
Internal rotten and lamed.

There's no corset for age,
Inevitably, masks degrade,
What cannot be truly said,
Like what is inside of a bank?

I think:
Narrow focus, quests for fame.
Yellow, orange, redder grapes,
Yellow locusts, yellow cobras,
Despite the sweetness, slaves,
Yellow, love, and disgust of stage.

It's the red that keeps you away.
It's the red that keeps you awake,
It's red that made me ashamed,
Less sweet and prearranged.

There is no chorus of praise,
Inevitably, that's an act of faith.
Like no corset abound my waist,
Only orange, celibacy and rage.

However, It's yellow up for debate,
Yellow in me sees people change,
Yellow, to me sits out by the stage,
Yells out in unison to the play.

I'm sorry, I fell asleep,
Black, eyes see, I feel...
Yellow, what can ever be?
Like a child, I dream... of,
Yellow, saffron, cream,
White outside yellow.

Like an egg, given life,
Tell us, what should it be?
Just like rust on the beach,
Yellow, contained in white?
I'm sorry, I fell asleep...

What of the darkness?
You still sleep at night,
Despite what you speak,
Yellow, what is it you see?

I'm sorry, I fell asleep.
I cannot be there, I feel...
Yolk: mustard, garlic,
Like darkness inside me,
White on the outside,
Bizarre shades, and yellow.

There are chunks in that soup, and cubes,
Mashed potatoes in there somewhere too.
All around me, the café's chatter:
The onion has a story to tell
And the broth, of course, is not merely gone,
It has been completely transformed.
In the shadow of the dark glass,
I see my friend's eyes smile at me.
My sister has written this poem
As a way to explain something
 She cannot easily say aloud.
 After the last stanza,
She writes the line "We never lose our past selves."

This poem is an Articial Intelligence re-interpretation of "Flesh, Pt 1" by Gordon Haggerty.

The wind whispers to my skin,
It's like it speaks with every breath.
As if it has been calling out for my presence,
Waiting to see the face behind this mask.
So far it has shown nothing but disdain,
And I wonder if I have anything left to give.

In darkness I wander,
With nothing but my memories
Falling, falling, falling.
Where once I saw light now lies only gloom,
And I know that it has gone.
For those who wish for rest, I have none
Though I'd give up what I have, for one more.
But it's too much now, I can't move my hands,
I just want to sleep...
(My memory, it fades)
In the dark, with nothing to grasp,
The memories that I hold so dear
Fall away from me like they were never there.
And I feel as though I will fall into madness,
Like the very world is crumbling beneath my feet,
That everything is crashing down,
I fear I cannot stand the weight.
(I'm fading)
I just want to sleep...
(My memory, it fades)
***
I'm afraid I've gone and made a fool out of myself again,
I knew you wouldn't understand my reason,
And now you're not talking to me at all,
You see I didn't mean to let your memory fade,
It's like I was being pulled away by another force,
Something I didn't mean, something I can't control,
I don't even know why I'm still here...
I don't know why I'm still here.
I should leave this place, I know it's wrong,
I shouldn't be here in your mind,
I can't help the way that I am,
I don't know why I'm Super Mundane,
I can't stop feeling so low,
I'm afraid it's already too late.

I didn't mean to let you slip away,
But the thought of losing you just doesn't sit right,
To keep you awake and alive,
I need you here, I'm not alone,
Without you here with me I can't go on,
I don't know why I'm Super Mundane,
I don't know why I'm still here.
I didn't mean to let you slip away,
I just can't shake this feeling,
That something inside of me is broken,
I don't know why I'm Super Mundane,
I don't know why I'm still here.

ceaseless, i wait here in my hall of stone.
my continuous, meditative, monotonous vigil only broken by the sound of a camera shutter or the scratch of charcoal over rough paper.
my silence never ends, since my marble knees do not know the hour when they will straighten and carry me away, nor my spine knows when to crack and unfurl my body tall, higher than the skylight under which i am displayed, nor my dainty dress knows when to settle itself more comfortably over my shoulders.
so here i remain, forever more statue than woman.

one evening, out of the blue twilight the night guard saunters in, bold and butch and self-assured
(her footfalls give her away)
without warning, she leans in close, shining her beam in my placid face, and i cannot blink away the yellow light
(and never would, just to glimpse once more upon her lovely face)
hastily she whispers in my ear, instantly transforming my marble to rose quartz
and slowly then, she kisses me, soft and earnest and fleeting
and suddenly i am more woman than statue.

A treasure full of dreams
A future wrapped in gold
What our indecisions bring
Within each box that life will hold

Hidden in the square
Amongst the corrugated seams
Is more than just thin air
And the light from distant beams

There are memories we have known
Within the box that cannot part
Like the flowers that have grown
Just to touch a gentle heart

Upon these feathers within a box
I shall sleep on them tonight
And to the ticking of the clock
I shall dance the angel’s flight

Says the label dressed in red,
“Never touch what’s in the box”
So many thoughts run through my head
Of all the moments we have lost

LIVING WITH UNCERTAINTY

What if we thought of this uncertainty
as Jews consider our Sabbath—

As a sacred space in time?
Stop traveling.
Stop buying and selling.
Stop working.
Give up trying to make the world better than it is.

Instead, sing. Dance. Pray.
Write songs and recite poetry.
Paint the pictures from your eyes.
Walk amongst the leaves and the stars.
Touch only those to whom you have committed your life.

Sit down.
And when your mind and body have become still,
Reach out with your heart.
Know that we are connected in ways that are both terrifying and beautiful.
No one can deny that now.

Do not reach out with your hands.
Reach out with your heart.
Reach out with your words.
Reach out with all the curled tendrils
Of compassion that connect us invisibly,

To where we cannot touch each other.

quite literally
they cannot spill out of my mouth into the toilet bowl fast enough

green, neophyte, insensate

swirling around in the clear, shallow water, they almost look like they are swimming

ancient, ferric, turpentine

its midnight on sunday afternoon and the morning never felt so far away

verily, salt, halcyon

pulling the lever, they swirl away, the letters sloshing together into a murky soup

gestalt, vermilion, fear

they turn into equations with no solutions when i bring my hand away from my mouth, wiping

ouroboros, nineteen, baseless

i know better than to brush my teeth

golden, gale, corridor

i know better than to go back to bed right after

demilune, murmur, mirror

linoleum, throat, nightgown

listless, lucid, dreamer

Capture paper, snapshot picture,
Red, red, red,
All one sees is the figures.
Cannot a boy grow,
Irrespective of now?

Bones that manage to crack,
A love forever lacking,
What one cannot foresee comes again.
Losing fights that cannot be won,
outgunned, outlasted, nor outrun.
A foot forced to shrubs,
But what of the lungs?

Lonesome, handsome fighter,
What of your gloves?
What of your sums?
Poster person, spokesman,
What of you becomes?

The toad speaks, the mind sees,
The mouse squeaks of menses;
Too high to sleep, ego flying,
Does one write lines on sheets?
Scribble perfection, or deny?
Fights cannot be won, only survived.
Poet, please give me writing,
Forced to be, I need power to fight.

I have a war in my mind.
Thoughts battling eachother,
Thoughts trampling eachother.
But there is never any outcome.
No wins or losses,
Just more confusion and pain.
As I stand out on this battlefield,
I realise that this war will never be won.
As this is the war in my mind.
And my thoughts on him, the one I cannot have, will never cease to exist.

Walk ambles beyond,
Talk stumbles upon,
To write another poem,
Ideas like a fawn.
Appealing siren song,
My pen misguided,
My Ken to Barbie,
A life, component plastic,
Abdomen firm, mind naught,
Opponent, you cage her,
For I cannot.
